Sunday worship
The small, faithful congregation meets on a Sunday morning at 10.30am where our joint services continue the tradition of Methodist and Presbyterian churches with preachers leading worship along with occasional worship led by members of the congregation. From time to time, we meet together for worship with our neighbour church – St Andrew’s.
Regular events:
Friday:
Community Grocery and coffee morning – 10 items for £3.00 open 10am to 12.00pm
With countless families face the uncertainty of increased food costs, increased heating bills and shrinking wages many may not know where the next meal is coming from, so our Community Grocery is here to help. Step inside and you’ll find a range of food options fresh from local supermarkets, and from our main supplier in Liverpool, meaning you can come and shop at the fraction of the cost of a supermarket.
Refreshments are always available along with a willing ear.
Connah's Quay Mix and Mingle meet for conversation, games, puzzles, trips, tea and cake. Fridays at 1.15pm.
Well Fed/Can cook - Well-Fed is a partnership between Flintshire County Council, Clwyd Alyn Housing Association and Can Cook. The aim is to offer fresh meal options to the youngest children, older people and everyone in between. Meals are reasonably priced for a family of 4 or a single person. Please visit their website for more details, or drop into our Friday Grocery and pick up a leaflet. Orders are placed and paid for on Friday and are available for collection the following Friday. About Well Fed - Can Cook
The Refurbishment project at Quaystone Chapel.
Here in the Buckley and Deeside Methodist Circuit, we are passionate about caring for our community and serving the most vulnerable in our town. We have used Quaystone Chapel, one of our 11 churches, to share Jesus’ love and equip people with the emotional and physical resources they need to persevere through life’s challenges.
This includes helping our community with initiatives such as our affordable Friday Grocery, Mix and Mingle social sessions and our Dementia singing group, Music for the Mind, along with regular opportunity for worship, and sharing. We have hosted a pig roast and have been entertained by the Deeside Silver Band.
We understand the challenges our town faces, but despite our best efforts, we don't have the resources to expand and diversify our support. Our chapel has fallen into disrepair and struggles to keep up with the ever-increasing need in our community. A small kitchenette, lack of toilets, draughty doors and windows and general dilapidation have vastly limited our chapel's ability to provide for our community, reducing our capacity for community events.
To make Quaystone Chapel a usable space for our church and the wider community, to enable us to improve our care for people struggling with food insecurity, isolation and loneliness, and provide a place that unites the Connah’s Quay community under God, we have embarked on an ambitious internal refurbishment. The funding that we have secured, along with our own financial investment, supported by the work of local builder GP Builders in Connah’s Quay, we are in the process of putting our dreams and visions into reality.
The photographs show the work in progress, as we create space for a kitchen and new toilet facilities, an enhanced entrance foyer with glass partition into our revamped worship space and community hall, and our fully fitted community grocery space.
If all goes according to plan, then we will be welcoming our community into the refurbished space in the next few weeks.
